Become a Volunteer!
With over 30 preserve properties throughout the County, SDHC offers members of the public the opportunity to learn and gain experience in habitat conservation. SDHC works with neighboring residents, students, clubs, business teams, and volunteer groups to perform educational outreach and maintenance activities. Volunteers often assist with conservation activities at one of our preserves, including removal of trash and invasive plant species, planting native species, and repairing preserve signs and fencing. Volunteers also accompany habitat managers on monitoring visits to learn about San Diego's local ecosystems. Volunteers that join us in the field learn how to identify native plant species and communities, local birds, mammals, reptiles, and invertebrate, invasive plant species and treatment methods, and other conservation practices. |

Whether you are looking to gain experience in environmental conservation, give back to your community, or simply learn about local wildlife and plant species, volunteer with SDHC! Help protect San Diego's natural ecosystems by getting involved one of the ways below. We are happy to work with you to find a volunteer position that fits your experience and goals. See our Preserves page to find a preserve near you.

SDHC regularly works with students from University of California San Diego, San Diego State University, High Tech High School, and more! |
