Do you care about the natural environment? Would you like to make a difference in the quality of life within your community? Are you interested in helping to preserve native landscapes? Would you like to teach others about how they can help protect the environment or start a career in the environmental field? Are you unemployed, underemployed, retired, or looking for a career change? Are you a college student looking for an internship or a high school student looking to fulfill community service hours? No matter your motivation, if you answered “yes” to any of these questions, please consider becoming a volunteer with SDHC. Below are just a few of the current volunteer opportunities we have available. We are happy to work with you to find a volunteer position that fits your experience and goals. Experience is beneficial, but not always required. Passion for our mission is required.
- Social Media Marketing Volunteer: SDHC is seeking a volunteer to expand and improve our social media presence and improve our communication with the public in order to further strengthen our organization and better fulfill our mission. This person will work with SDHC staff to develop and refine a social media plan; including writing and distributing an electronic newsletter, populating SDHC’s Facebook and Instagram pages, and identifying and utilizing other social media outlets. Experience can be in the fields of media communications, marketing, sales, environmental or natural sciences, and/or public relations.
- Videography Volunteer: SDHC is seeking a volunteer to provide ongoing assistance with updating and creating videos for outreach purposes. This person will work with staff to design short educational videos to share with the public and to use on our website to create a more interactive experience. This person may also work with staff to obtain video footage in the field using a GoPro camera and DJI Phantom drone. Experience in video editing and/or piloting UAVs/drones is highly beneficial.
